During a workshop you will try some motifs from linnean and historical sources- all material you need is included and you can continue at home! A workshop also includes a short presentation on embroidery, textiles and botanical motifs from a historic perspective. The workshop is mainly in Swedish but instructions can also be given in English. The first workshop takes place on June 24, the second is on August 23.
Venue: Linnaeus Garden, the Orangery
Price: 350 SEK. Material and coffee/tea included.
Register via links below (form in Swedish).
The workshops are lead by Anna Svensson and Annika Windahl Pontén, who both combine historical research and textile practices. Anna has transformed botanical motifs from historical sources to embroidery, using her research on the history of the herbarium and on plant dying as starting point. Annika has worked on clothes and textiles in the Linnaeus household in her research, she has also taught at the department for textile studies at Uppsala University.
